Jinnie Hanson
Jinnie graduated
from Pacific Lutheran University in 2006 with a BBA
and Marketing Concentration.
She began working
for the Boys & Girls Clubs at the Lakewood Branch in
the summer of 2004 as a work study Program
Specialist. The following summer she continued
working at the Lakewood Branch, but also interned at
the Administrative Service Center in the Marketing
Department. This led to her being hired in
March 2006 as the Communications & Marketing
Assistant. She was promoted to Director of
Special Events & Marketing in February of 2007 and
then to the position of Director of
Marketing and Communications in January of 2008
Jinnie grew up in
Soldotna, Alaska, the youngest of five children. She
graduated as a valedictorian from Skyview High
School before moving down to Tacoma to go to
college. While at PLU, she was fortunate enough to
participate in two J-term study abroad programs.
The first to Ecuador included visiting the Galapagos
Islands, Amazon Rainforest and the Andes. In 2006
she was part of the first group from PLU and only 2nd
from any university to go to Antarctica. The trip
also included stops in Argentina and Chile. Both
trips were experiences of a lifetime and were
catalyst for her goal of visiting all seven
continents. Her senior year she was awarded the PLU
School of Business Marketing Student of the Year
award. She remains connected to the School and
University, serving on the Board for the PLU
Business Network, the Alumni Association for the
School of Business.
Jinnie’s
experiences at PLU and working the summers at the
Boys & Girls Clubs have influenced her decision to
work for a non-profit organization, in a capacity to
give something back for the greater good of the
community.
