Juan Madera
Juan is from Chicago, but spent
most of his years in Tacoma. He graduated from
Curtis High School and went to Tacoma Community
College and Central Washington University. Juan
received his bachelor’s degree in Recreation
Management in 2001. Eager to gain experience in the
work force, Juan found an opportunity to show his
skills at the North Seattle Boys & Girls Club, as a
drop-in counselor and part-time intern. He used his
experience from the Boys & Girls Club and applied it
to other organizations in the same field. Juan has
worked for Mel Korum Puyallup YMCA, Tacoma Metro
Parks, and Pierce County Parks. Most recently, Juan
received a certificate in Supervision and Management
from Tacoma Community College.
Juan’s motto for the past year has been “Great in
’08.” A few of the highlights include getting
married and finding his dream job.
