PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Under the
direction of the Program Director, the Director of Teen Services
will be responsible for implementing teen programs and
developing local resources for Club teens ages 13-18. Programs
will foster positive self-identity, educational, employment,
social, emotional and cultural competencies, community and civic
involvement, health and life skills and a moral compass. The
Director of Teen Services will supervise work study students,
interns, and other program specialists assigned to the teen
center. This individual may also have additional
responsibilities for youth ages 11 and 12.

Prepare Youth for Success
Plan,
deliver and oversee the administration of designated Clubhouse
programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes:

Establish
Clubhouse program objectives consistent with organizational
goals and mission.
·
Oversee the
provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with
established standards and goals.
·
Ensure that
members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program
areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive
feedback to develop skills in program area(s).
·
Demonstrate
skills and provide leadership to assure conduct, safety and
development of members.
·
Design and
implement innovative an unique programs for youth ages 13-18
that represent all five core program areas including the
following required programming: Keystone, Money Matters, Career
Launch, Youth of the Year, CLUB Service, Triple Play, Presidents
Volunteer Service Award and Power Hour for Teens.
·
Oversee/implement programming in the arts to include music and
dance.
Program Development and Implementation
Establish
and maintain Clubhouse program goals and settings that insure
the health and safety of members. Ensure that site staff
understand and effectively communicate standards of program;
that they ensure program areas are safe, well ventilated and
well lit; and that club equipment is maintained in good working
condition.

Ensure the
evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensures
programs/activities respond to member needs and address their
gender and cultural diversity.
·
Control
Clubhouse program and activity expenditures within approved
budget.
·
Assist
Branch Director in the daily overall operations of the Teen
Center and assist in other program areas as needed.
Supervision
Allocate and
monitor work assigned to program volunteers and staff, providing
ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. Identify and support
training and development opportunities for assigned volunteers
and staff.

Oversee
proper record keeping and reporting including activities and
events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures,
notable achievements and any problems/issues.
·
Ensure
productive and effective performance by all program staff and
volunteers.
·
Ensure that
staff and volunteers adhere to the organizations policies and
procedures as well as all applicable rules, regulations and
laws.
Marketing and Public Relations
Increase
visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule,
announcements of upcoming events and the dissemination of timely
information for the development of advertising and promotion
through mailings, fliers and media releases. Visit schools,
colleges and universities to promote Club programs and
membership and to increase work study opportunities for the
Club.

Collaborate
with community partnerships to provide a broader reach of
service to teen members.
·
Administer
community recognition programs and events that are designed to
instill self-confidence by highlighting the accomplishments of
youth.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Oversee special programs
and/or events and participate in other unit activities as
directed.
2. Assist
with the promotion and implementation of all other teen program
initiatives that reinforce a positive self-identity.
3. Assist
in the promotion and interpretation of the Club philosophy,
methods and accomplishments as it relates to teen programming.
4. Serve
as a positive adult role model for teens and youth.
5. Adhere
to organizational policies and procedures.
6. Compile
state-of-the-art teen resources, information and data to address
current and future trends affecting teens.
4. May be
required to drive Club van periodically.
5. Meet
with parents concerning member and branch issues to include
discipline, suspensions as well as other identified needs or
activities.
6. Ability
to work flexible hours to include evenings and some weekends.
7. Other
duties as assigned related to this position.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal:
Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and
volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide
information, discuss issues, explain, demonstrate or interpret
guidelines/instructions; instruct, and advise/counsel.
External:
Maintain contact as needed with external community groups,
organizations that partner with BGCSPS, schools, member's
parents and others as needed and appropriate.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
·
Four year degree in related
field from an accredited college or university strongly
preferred.
·
Minimum of an AA degree in
related field from and accredited college or university
required.
·
A minimum of two years work
experience in a Boys or Girls Club or similar organization
planning and supervising activities based on the developmental
needs of young people, preferably teens.
·
Strong communication skills,
both verbal and written.
·
Computer skills to include
ability to access, input and retrieve information from the
computer.
·
Group leadership skills,
including an understanding of group dynamics and ability to run
group activities in the gym, games room, etc., as well as
outdoors on
our playing fields.
·
Demonstrated organizational,
staff and project management abilities.
·
Ability to
work effectively and productively with others.
·
Ability to
work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends
and/or holidays.
·
Mandatory
CPR and First Aid Certifications
·
Current
driver’s license, dependable vehicle and agency required vehicle
liability limits
PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position regularly involves lifting, bending, reaching,
standing, walking, talking, hearing, keyboarding, grasping, and
ability to participate in indoor/outdoor activities. The
successful candidate must be able to use a variety of office
equipment including compute, telephone, copier, fax, and/or
other equipment. He or she may be required to lift supplies,
materials, equipment and collateral materials weighing up to 40
pounds. The worker is subject to both indoor and outside
environmental conditions in that activities occur inside and
outside. This individual is required to work around youth and
adults where noise levels may be moderate to high during some
activities.
