TITLE:                                   Program Specialist-Teen Late Night – East Side

                                                Fridays – 7 PM to 11 PM at $10 per hour

 

DEPARTMENT:                  Programs

 

REPORTS TO:                    Branch Director or his/her designee

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION:       Responsible for the delivering and overseeing the delivery of the teen late night program within a designated clubhouse. 

                                                Plan, develop, deliver, and oversee the implementation of programs and supervision of staff and youth in attendance.

 

KEY ROLES:                       Plan, deliver, and oversee the administration of designated clubhouse teen late night programs and activities that support Youth Development Outcomes

 

1.   Plan, deliver, and oversee the administration of the teen late night program

      and activities at the designated clubhouse that support Youth Development

 

2.  Establish and maintain clubhouse programs for teen late night that insure

     health and safety of teens.  Supervise site staff and communicate standards

     and program requirements; ensure the program areas are safe, well

     ventilated, and well lit; and the equipment is in good working condition.

 

3.  Ensure that the programs/activities offered meet the goals of the City of Tacoma grant to fund teen late night.

 

4.  Control the program expenditures and approved budget.

 

5.  Allocate and monitor work assigned to staff and volunteers, providing

feedback and regular appraisal.  Identify, support, and train volunteers and staff.

 

6.  Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities, events,

participation, achievements, problems, and issues.  Complete a monthly matrix

and census report required by City of Tacoma.

 

7.  Ensure productive and effective performance by staff and volunteers.

 

8.  Promote programs and activities via posting schedules, announcing upcoming

events, advertising, promotions, and visits to the schools when able to increase

participation, memberships, and opportunities for teens.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  May be required to drive club van periodically

 

2.  Meet with members and parents concerning issues to include discipline,

suspensions, as well as identify needs or activities.

 

3.  May handle fees collected and securing for a deposit by administrative

Assistant.

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

 

Internal:  Maintain close contact with Branch Director, club members, late night

staff to receive/provide information, discuss issues, instruction/guidelines,

advice/counsel.

 

External:  Maintain contact as needed with external community groups, and

partners for this program, schools, parents, members, and others as needed.

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

-          Experience working with teens and supervising activities and staff.

-          Computer skills necessary to communicate with others and complete required reports.

-          Strong communication skills verbal and written

-          Group leader skills and the ability to run teen activities and programs in games room, gym, and teen center.

-          Demonstrate organizational, staff, and program management abilities

-          Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications

-          Current driver’s license and agency required liability limits

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The position involves lifting, bending, reaching, standing, walking, hearing, keyboarding, and grasping.  The worker is subject to indoor and limited outdoor environmental conditions where activities occur.  The individual is required to work around youth and adults where noise levels may be moderate to high at times.
