Youth of the Year Update featured on TV Tacoma

December 2024 - On TV Tacoma, Kylie Waddill, BGCSPS Teen Services Manager, shared the importance of our Youth of the Year program and the amazing impact it has on our teens. Riya Richardson, 2024 Youth of the Year, shared how the Club connected her with amazing opportunities and her experience working on Pixar's movie, Inside Out 2

Al Davies Branch featured in Tacoma Weekly

October 2024 - Club members and their families at our Al Davies Branch were in for a real treat on Oct. 9. Eligible K-12 students were given the opportunity to sign up to receive free internet access and a hotspot through T-Mobile’s Project 10 Million program. The students were also gifted with a collapsible backpack, sports-themed water bottle, STEAM activity booklet, apparel like socks and hats, and a bead kit to further fuel their imagination and equip them to dream big!

Summer Late Nights featured on TV Tacoma

August 2024 - Summer Late Nights was featured on TV Tacoma on Thursday, August 15. Kylie Waddill, BGCSPS Teen Services Manager, and Bernie Rhoades, associate director of youth learning for Greentrike shared inspiring stories of how the program is positively impacting the youth in our community and the plans for future Summer Late Nights programming.

BGCSPS Members Featured in Comcast's Lift Zones Videos

May 2024 – Comcast, a longstanding partner of Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound, has just published a new video featuring our Club members at the Henry T. Schatz Branch in Tacoma. The video captures the positive impact that Comcast's Lift Zones have on our Clubs. 


According to Comcast's article, "Lift Zones are spaces in neighborhood community centers that provide free Internet access for students and families. The initiative also offers hundreds of hours of free educational and digital skills content to help navigate online learning... With broad support for Lift Zones and the resources they provide to children and families, Comcast remains focused on ensuring Lift Zones continue to make an impact in communities throughout the Pacific Northwest and nationwide."

2024 Youth of the Year featured on TV Tacoma

January 2024 Celebrating our 2024 Youth of the Year on CityLine at TV Tacoma! We announced our annual Legacy of Hope event and acknowledged the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound for providing a safe, fun, and inclusive space! We recognize Lashawn McQueen, Mo Jensen, and Riya Richardson for having the courage to be interviewed on TV.
